Are you:
- Struggling with the effects of anxiety, stress or trauma?
- Hypervigilant and constantly on edge?
- Suffering with insomnia, digestive issues, compromised immunity or auto-immune conditions?
- Having difficulty breathing comfortably?
- Finding it difficult to relax and feel safe in your body?
- Reacting strongly to everyday incidents that ‘normally’ wouldn’t feel stressful?
- Experiencing brain fog and difficulty concentrating?
- Experiencing physical tension and/or pain without known cause?
- Feeling a sense of pervasive ‘wrongness’ that you can’t quite put your finger on?
These are just a few of the common symptoms of chronic stress, anxiety or trauma and how they manifest in the body.
If you identify with several of these, then it is likely that you are experiencing ongoing dysregulation in your autonomic nervous system. This is the part of our nervous system that manages our fight/flight (stress) and rest/digest (relaxation) responses (as well as other defensive responses including freeze and fawn).
Nervous System Regulation Therapy supports you to manage and reduce the impacts of trauma, anxiety and stress by retraining your body, breath and nervous system. It uses body and breath-based approaches to regulate your nervous system and bring you back into balance – helping you to FEEL safe when you ARE safe. Over time, you may also find that physical symptoms such as pain or digestive issues improve.
The benefits of bringing balance back to your nervous system extend beyond your body into your whole life. When you feel safe in your body and breath, when you have a sense of ‘I’ve got this’, it has positive impacts on every area of your life, from your work to your relationships and home life.
Reconnecting with and regulating your nervous system will give you a renewed sense of joy in every aspect of life, as well as excitement for your future. It gives you the key you need to come home to you, to get back in the driving seat of your own life, and to open the door to a brighter future.
Are you ready to:
- Reclaim your power?
- Come home to your body and breath?
- Understand and retrain your nervous system?
- Have a toolkit of personalised techniques to support your wellbeing?
- Cultivate your body and breath as powerful resources to help you recover from anxiety and trauma?
- Feel more resilient?
- Have more influence over how you respond to people, situations, events and environments?
- Feel safe when you ARE safe?
- Rediscover your joy?
- Feel excited for your future?
- Shift from surviving to thriving?
Are you:
- Living with a long-term condition that needs ongoing management?
- Recovering from injury?
- Experiencing jaw, neck, head or facial pain?
- Living with ongoing pain that has no explainable cause (chronic myofascial pain)?
- Feeling stiff and limited in your mobility?
- Experiencing chronic fatigue?
- Struggling to sleep?
- Feeling unsupported and alone?
- Feeling worried and anxious about your pain and for the future?
- Tired of feeling tired and in pain all the time?
If you identify with one or several of these, then a course of hands-on therapy combined with pain education, pain management approaches and self-care techniques could help to reduce your symptoms and improve your quality of life.
Living with long-term conditions or chronic pain can feel exhausting as you constantly work to manage your symptoms. It can feel difficult to get away from your pain and have some respite. Often, the more you try not to think about it, the more you focus in on it.
Whether you have a known injury, condition or disease, or whether you are experiencing pain with no known cause, the important thing to know is that your pain is real. You deserve the support you need to live well with it, and where possible change it!
Because we know that there are many different factors that influence the experience of pain we take all of these into account when developing your treatment plan.
That’s what makes this journey so different to anything else you’ll find out there. We don’t just focus on the physical side things, but also consider emotional factors, lifestyle, breathing, anxiety levels, and anything else that may be affecting you.
Understanding more about how pain works, alongside receiving nurturing touch and tailored body therapy can help to reduce your experience of pain. Different kinds of touch and bodywork techniques can help to interrupt pain signals and give you some respite. Learning more about self-care coupled with techniques to effectively manage your pain puts you back in control of your own journey.
This sense of agency gives you a greater sense of confidence and resilience in your own body. And over time this can help to reprogramme your brain.
Are you ready to:
- Reconnect with your body and breath in a way that feels uplifting and positive?
- Receive nurturing body therapy and care?
- Support your nervous system and feel less anxious about your pain?
- Learn valuable tools to understand and manage your pain?
- Feel fully listened to and supported on your journey?
- Experience release and relief?
- Feel more resilient?
- Rediscover the fluidity, ease and comfort in your body?
- Rediscover a sense of joy in your body and breath?
Do you:
- Struggle to breathe easily?
- Find that you’re often breathless and feel like you can’t get enough air?
- Hold your breath or sigh a lot?
- Find it difficult to use your breath to downregulate your nervous system?
- Find connecting with your breath stressful?
- Sleep badly and wake up with a dry mouth in the morning?
Did you know that your breathing affects everything from your stress levels and sleep, to your immune system, posture and general health?
Poor or dysfunctional breathing patterns can reduce quality of sleep, contribute to sleep apnea, affect posture and pain, and keep you locked in cycles of anxiety, emotional dysregulation and poor health.
The most common breathing issues I see are those of mouth breathing and habitual overbreathing (often as a result of mouth breathing) – where we take and release breaths that are too big because we feel like we’re not getting enough air.
Another common problem is chest breathing, which in the long term may result in no longer being able to breathe diaphragmatically due to habit, the stress response constantly firing, and muscular and fascial tension affecting diaphragmatic movement and posture.
Good breathing can help to reduce sleep issues, stress, anxiety, pain, and improve digestion and immune functioning, not to mention better cardiovascular function, lower blood pressure and reduced symptoms of asthma or rhinitis – all by giving you better control of your breath.
Breathing coaching involves retraining or refining your breathing to improve focus, performance, attention, concentration, sleep, self regulation, resilience and health.
From learning the differences between nasal and mouth breathing, and correct tongue and jaw positioning, to the biochemistry, biomechanics and cadence of the breath, you will gain both valuable knowledge and useful practical exercises and techniques to improve your ability to breathe easily, comfortably and efficiently.
The idea is not to teach one or two breathing techniques, but to change your whole way of breathing and make sustainable long-term changes that will completely transform your breathing and your quality of life.
